Gary Wilson

garywilson1

I read about this man, who was lost, and then found as his music filtered through the speakers in his absence. He pressed only 600 copies of his first album You Think You Really Know Me by Gary Wilson & the Blind Dates and broke most of them over his head at one of his gigs. There’s a good article at The Village Voice and Gary himself has a great website called sixpointfour which is one of his songs, you can have a listen to it here. If you can spot the quote, then you get a cake.

Books and spaces

There seems to be lots to read out there at the moment and to add to those in my typelist, I’ve been looking at  THE TYPOGRAPHIC EXPERIMENT by Teal Triggs which comes from Magma which is a great source of design books. Just started You Shall know our Velocity by Dave Eggers I have to say that A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius  is fast becoming one of my all time favourite books. I am pleased to say that I’ve ordered Out by Natsuo Kirino Kirino is the queen of Japanese horror writing, and since we all enjoyed The Ring, we know that Japanese horror doesn’t pull its punches.

It feels like a new year…in september

I haven’t posted since the tour finished, and I’ve been working and going on holiday, and now I’m back and notice some new links.imakethings has had a redesign, and may soon be guest editing dotsandspaces. There’s plenty I’ve noticed on other people’s sites, and maybe some pictures of some new work. I’ve been reading new books and even got a bit of writing done. Promises are easily broken, but not here on dots and spaces. Plenty to say and plenty to be reading in the next couple of weeks. Any questions?

Number 6

win6

Lance Armstrong has moved on from the Five time winners club and set up his own, new club. Only trouble is, that he’ll have to wait a while for a bit of company. This tour, more than any others, he has been ruthless and his attention to detail exquisite. Taking seconds on early stages and stamping down his superiority on the big stages, then riding his rivals out of the frame on each time trail. Maybe this is it, maybe there won’t be a number seven, but then who’d have said that it would have been possible for a man to win six tours. Awesome.

Goodwood Ride

Enjoyed my ride at Goodwood today with Martin, we started out around 11 o’clock and completed around 12 laps of the 2.4mile circuit. The weather came good and the sun shone for the first time in ages. (I’ve been suffering too many rides in the rain lately). This was another ride for the British Heart Foundation, and if anyone has any money left over or neglected to sponsor me for the London to Brighton, then please email me If I can raise £50 then I get a free t-shirt, come on people – clothe me…

Here are the stats – we did take it easy most of the time, I put in a killer lap towards the end.

Time: 2hrs
Average Speed: 15mph
Distance 30miles
Maximum Speed 25mph
