weekend break

No posts this weekend as I’m heading to Dorset. Packed last night, and get picked up after work. I’ll post some photos. The forecast is pretty poor, but I have my Magnus Mills book, and the gameboy. No cycling this weekend either. Anyway…although impressive, I need more of you to click here to sponsor me Thank you to everyone who’s sponsored me so far, I won’t let you down.

laters…

Tron’s ibook

Following on from Tron man… people have started to customise thier ibooks. It looks complicated, you have to take your ibook to bits, then strip it of white, then repaint it. More details can be found here I think you have to be pretty confident, if you balls it up, then you have to live with it. (or buy new parts from ebay)

Tron

J Maynard has built a Tron costume. Oli sent me this, with the line “Oh my god the funniest thing I’ve seen since I was born.” It took him freakin’ ages, and the detail is superb…well, I say superb…

test your pet

harry01

Following on from BBC’s test the nation, some bright spark has launched a survey to find out just how smart the nation’s pets are. I saw this article in the Guardian. Justine Hankins has a weekly column on pets, which I always catch myself reading over breakfast, its sharp, witty and usually informative. She often questions the assumptions we make about pet behaviour, and helps us understand a little more about the creatures we have living with us.

Wheels

Tonight I purchased a pair of Conit Sport Contact Tyres so that when I’m out on the road I won’t hear the buzzing sound as I strip the tarmac. They have a strange wishy line that goes through the centre of the tyre. As usual I got it from wiggle. I was a bit confused about tyre sizes (and still am basically). I have 700 x 38c on at the moment, and didn’t know what i could use, but an email to the kind people at wiggle helped me out. They are so friendly, even wished me luck on my ride. I’m thinking of rating companies by their helpfulness, it often goes hand in hand with efficiency, and honest prices.

Shaun of the Dead

Last night we saw SOTD for the second time and it was just as great. Very crisply shot, neat script and good characters. Couldn’t quite get beyond the scope of a student film, but maybe that’s down to the locations and sets. The temptation with the FX would have been to make them a bit low grade, but pleased to report that all zombies looked proper zombie-like. I’m sure I spotted a few celebrity zombies in there somewhere…

Anyway…its got us talking…can dogs look up?

Bike Show 2004

Went up to Brum for the Bike Show, and although this is the first time I’ve been, I have to admit to coming away a little dissapointed. Sure there was lots to see, especially with the trails show and the vert ramp, but there were some big names missing, and the bias seemed to be towards BMX and Mountain Bike. Nevermind, picked up lots of stickers and catalogues that I’ll probably pop into the recycling bin on Monday.

new for 2004

The wonderful people at Howies have posted a new catalogue, if you haven’t put your name down for one, then hit the link above. I’ve taken a special interest in the Chevron Bag – you can get it from wiggle as well as from Howies directly. You can’t buy on line, but there’s a nifty call back option on the website, just leave you’re details and someone will give you a bell. Its one of the few catalogues that you’ll read from cover to cover.

The catalogue is printed using vegetable inks and recycled pulp, and will take about 200 years to biodegrade. Remember, everything we do has impact.
