Dogs looking up.. Part 3

Dog01

ok, just a recap – the first post about dogs included a picture of floyd’s looking up, and now this one – which I’ve finally after months/years have posted – this looks like conclusive proof, although I know many of you will respond that he isn’t looking directly up (can humans do this then?) etc, etc, but now I think we might be onto something. But it took photographic evidence…shame on you all.

Many thanks to Ace for the photo, let the comments begin…again.

hokkaido showers me with gifts

Badges

A big thank you to the kids in Japan – they are both fab and have treated me to the gift of gocco and I’m hoping to get started as soon as possible. I will be the envy of all my screenprinting friends. I have to say, these days all I get is junk mail, so its so nice to get something, and you can’t beat a parcel from Japan. Look at the badges, aren’t they great?

a delay of sorts

well, I’m just coming out of a pretty horrid cold and starting to feel a little better, thanks…but I know you want to know what’s going on with the site – apologies, apologies – dots and spaces will be taking a little break over the next couple of weeks in readiness for V.3 – its been a while coming and now there are just so many things to link to and the way I use the web has changed a great deal since I started posting here. Now I need dots and spaces to change and adapt a little – and it will. So hang in there, more to follow soon…

Chops

Great new record from Euros Childs  who is usually standing at the front of the stage for Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci. I thought it might be more of the same, but its real fun, and Euros seems to enjoy the freedom of a solo record. Look out for Donkey Island, another little gem in an album that surprises and entertains.

Richard James is also about to release a solo album, and you can find out more information at Boobytrap. I use to belong to the singles club and spent a year listening to all sorts of strange welsh offerings, I don’t recall too many hits, but it was good fun waiting for this little brown envelope to pop through the door once a month.

Snow

Off to Austria snowboarding on Friday, been looking forward to it for ages and there seems to be plenty of snow – all the webcams seem lively now. Only thing I’m not looking forward to is the bus trip – it’ll take ages and even though I’ve got a vast aray of gadgets at my disposal – I know I’ll just be looking out the window bored out of my mind. Anyway, when I get there….(I’ll send you a card)

the beat that my heart skipped

Heart01

Saw two films this week – A History of Violence which was played pretty straight for a David Cronenberg film, except for the blood effects, they were a bit more Cronenbergian.

Second film (picture above) was The beat that my heart skipped which was just blinding, another gritty and complex drama from Jacques Audiard and the writer Tonino Benacquista, whose book I just happened to pick up last year, having been the first book I’d read in ages in French. I was just facinated by the main character, a deeply unsympathetic person, a complex personality played brilliantly by Romain Duris.

We saw both films at our new favourite Cinema 6 which is the historic dockyards in Portsmouth. As far as we can gather they’ve formed a film club using the cinema at Action Stations. It seems to be early days and the audiences are picking up, its busier each time we’ve been. More information here You’ll have to check the paper for listings, but there are some good movies coming up.

In the meantime, I’ve been leaving photos at flickr and I’m flirting with the idea of starting a livejournal so that way I can add a bit more information to the photos on flickr, post them direct and then leave dots and spaces for fun things i spot, articles, cool stuff i want to talk about, bands, films, bikes, etc. I’ll let you know soon.

new dawn of broadband

You just won’t believe how quickly this page loaded up….really, fast. Of course there are lots of cool things with lovely fast broadband, including being able to load up The Ricky Gervais Show with the genius that is Karl Pilkington…so frightening. I was cracking up on the train this morning, grinning like an idiot just listening to them all. If you are also superfast, then Bears is also good fun. So…all Ricky Gervais eh?
